Smashwords version

Petrol Queen
The Smashwords version of Bullet and Other Stories is now available in multiple formats for those who’d like an ebook of my first collection.

Available on Smashwords here.

And on Amazon.com here.

While formatting and uploading to Smashwords is a bit different than to Amazon.com, it’s really pretty simple once you get the hang of it. Fun, too!

Do you have any top tips re. formatting for SmashWords? I was contemplating making that move in the near future, so any lessons learned would be appreciated.

Below is the link to the Smashwords style guide, which is rather long and looks more difficult than it really is. Actually, the page breaks are the same as Amazon. What's different is how to create a linked TOC. As far as uploading to the site, Smashwords is easier than Amazon.

What I'm going to do in the future, is put the book together on a master doc, then create a separate doc for each distributor. Smashwords wants you to put in a special paragraph on the copyright page. Small stuff like that.

Thanks, Marshall. I'll have a go at some point.

BTW, just reviewed your Three Flash Stories book...

It's the multiple formats and having another distributor that appeals to me. Feel free to email me if you have any questions.

Thanks for the review, Vaughan! Much appreciated.

She's still her in my heart and pix cache. ;-)

Thanks! Oh, I made a pdf of "You Were She Who Abode" and downloaded it to my Kindle to read soon! *g*

Did you opt in to all the available Smashwords retail outlets? (except Amazon,on course). Mark Coker himself says that the bulk of his authors' sales comes from other retailers like iBooks, Sony, and B&N. Of course, you have to get your book into the Premium Catalog and then get it "shipped" to the other retailers, that can take a few weeks.

You bet! I waiting to get in the premium catalog. I think I did everything correctly, but we shall see. These short story collections I'm putting out are a chance for me to fine tune all this before I release my first novel on ebook in a few months. For the novel I'll get an ISBN number so I can get in Apple and Sony, too.

I think Smashwords will give you an ISBN, won't they?

I thought you had to buy them in groups of 10 or something. I could be wrong. That's then next thing to check out.

Go to your Smashwords dashboard and one of the left column options is the ISBN manager.
